Another NMC Online Conference

This week I was a presenter on the Digital Media Trends Panel at the NMC Online Conference on The Impact of Digital Media.

The conference is informed by the MacArthur Foundation Series on Digital Media and Learning, a two-year project in which the NMC is helping to explore the impact of digital media on our lives in a variety of ways, and encouraging dialog among experts, visionaries, and thought leaders from around the globe. This unique event will expand that dialog beyond the project and reach out to an international audience.. For more info on this conference click HERE.

The title of my presentation was The Nature of Participatory Culture:

Participatory culture is about the intersection of digital media tools and the ongoing transition of the World Wide Web from a collection of websites to a full-fledged computing platform serving a variety of web-based applications to people. We are at the beginning stages of a shift that allows people to create and distribute media and ideas to where people can act as filters and editors.
